Appraisals and Insurance Statements

A complete written insurance appraisal is issued with each instrument and bow purchased from Claire Givens Violins, Inc., and appraisal updates are available upon request at no charge. We recommend updating appraisals every two years.

Appraisals are available for instruments and bows not purchased from Givens Violins by appointment on Thursdays.

The following appraisal services are available:

Appraisal and Estimate Fees

Written Appraisal for Insurance Purposes:

Includes written description of instrument or bow, including measurements and current replacement value. Mailed 5-10 business days from date of purchase/appointment date. By appointment on Thursdays between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Verbal Appraisal:

Includes Claire Givens' assessment of when/where the instrument or bow was made and current replacement value. By appointment on Thursdays between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Marketing Appraisal:

Includes a written Report of Condition from our shop and a verbal statement of current market value from Claire Givens. By appointment on Thursdays between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Appointment will include check-in of instrument to shop and establishment of owner's goals. Shop assessment for Report of Condition takes 15-20 business days. Once the Report of Condition is complete the verbal appraisal will be avilable from Claire Givens by phone or appointment within 5 business days.

Appraisal Updates:

We recommend that all insurance appraisals be updated every two years in order to be sure that insurance coverage reflects current replacement costs. Updates are mailed 5-10 business days from date requested.

Repair Estimate:

Detailed line-item listing of recommended repairs to put instrument or bow in top playing condition.

Insurance Claim Letter:

Includes a repair estimate from the shop and is printed on letterhead.
