He established his shop in Rennes, France and later his sons, Joseph (\u2018le Jeune\u2019) and \u00c9mile, joined the workshop.\u00a0 Instruments made by the family were highly regarded and typically made in the Lupot or Stradivari styles as well as Guarneri del Gesu.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Appearance:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This particular violin is an early example of a Guarneri del Gesu model. It showcases the deep red-brown varnish color over a golden ground reminiscent of a Guarneri del Gesu.\u00a0 The varnish was lightly antiqued.
