Remember Babar, the lovable elephant from the classic children’s adventure book series? We have a musical retelling of The Story of Babar available on CD. The story, translated from Jean de Brunhoff”s original French, is set to musical selections by Margi Griebling-Haigh and performed by Minneapolis-based chamber group OboeBass!- the Vecchione/Erdahl duo. The world’s first professional oboe-bass duo, the group consists of oboist Carrie Vecchione and bassist Rolf Erdahl, a married couple committed to pioneering and commissioning works for their unique instrumentation. In this project, they are joined by narrator Steve Staruch, of Classical MPR, and pianist William Eddins, music director of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. This delightful CD would be a great stocking stuffer for the holidays.
