Daniel Arlig has been an active maker since graduating from the North Bennet Street School of Violinmaking in 2002. He has received accolades including an Honorable Mention in the Art of Sound Violin Making Competition in 2012 and was elected to the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers in 2018. Givens Violins has sold 22 of his instruments since 2002. All his instruments are crafted in the tradition of the great 16th, 17th, and 18th century Masters from the Northern Italian towns of Cremona and Brescia. This cello, made in 2021, is inspired by the work of Giuseppe Guarneri ‘del Gesu’. The sound is rich and buttery, with a quick and consistent response across all four strings. The advanced player will find this instrument to have great facility for extended technique, with plenty of variation in color for a sound that is both nuanced and sophisticated. Featuring a lovely warm red-brown varnish, this cello is as attractive as it is sonorous.
