Instrument Restorer

Claire Givens Violins, an established downtown Minneapolis violin shop, has a full-time Instrument Restorer position open, currently. Seeking a graduate of a violin making or repair degree program who has high level skills, curiosity in the field, integrity, is capable of working as a member of a team and is looking for long term employment.

Work would include setting-up violins, violas and cellos including dressing fingerboards, fitting sound posts, pegs and bridges. Other work would involve crack repairs, peg bushings, neck sets, replacement of fingerboards, retouch varnish and larger restoration projects. There is an opportunity to develop and practice restoration at the highest level.

The hours are 8:00am- 5:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, sick pay, health and disability insurance, cafeteria plan and employee discounts.
