Instrument & Bow Checkups

Now that you’ve found the perfect instrument/bow, what can you do to retain its value and keep it in optimum playing condition? We recommend taking advantage of our professional workshop’s complimentary checkup service for instruments and bows purchased from Givens Violins. During instrument checkups we check all the seams, the straightness and alignment of the bridge, look over the varnish for any needed touchup and make recommendations for repairs, if needed. For bows, we check the length, evenness and fullness of the hair, the straightness of the stick, make sure the tip plate and frog are intact and the screw and eyelet are working properly.

We believe these checkups are important for the following reasons:

• Maintaining the value of your instrument and bow.
• Drawing the full potential of sound, response, and playability from your instrument and bow.
• Preserve and enhance the structural integrity and aesthetic of your instrument and bow.

We recommend getting your instrument and bow checked up every 6 months, or if any differences in playability are observed. These checkups are an excellent resource to our customers and are a major help in protecting your instrument/bow in the long term.
