This is a lovely contemporary Swiss bow! Johannes Siegfried Finkel (b. 1947, fourth generation of the Finkel-Weidhass dynasty of bowmakers) learned the craft of archetier under the tutelage of his father, Siegfried Finkel between 1965 and 1968. From his father’s Swiss workshop, JS Finkel developed his skills in a number of notable workshops until he landed at the London-based J & A Beare’s and making a plethora of bows based on Tourte and Tubbs models. Traveling to America, Finkel made bows from 1971-73 in workshops located in Los Angeles and Philadelphia. He ultimately returned to the Finkel family workshop in 1974, assuming management of the workshop until his retirement. Finkel, over the course of his career, developed a personal bow model while blending in a slight similarity to the D. Pecatte model.
This visually scrumptious bow has all the exquisite playing properties associated with the Finkel name with great control and so comfortable in the hand. The bow is strong yet supple and instantly responsive on the strings. You will be thrilled with the silky connective quality of the bow! Delightful!
