David Rubio (b. 1934, d. 2000) is famous among professional musicians for the quality of work he produced throughout his life. He is most well-known for his period-specific instruments. He was always perceived as being meticulous when it came to the creation of instruments. These traits come across very clearly in the cleanliness of his woodcarving and varnish.
Appearance:
This violin in particular is a wonderful example of the amazing work he produced throughout his life, varnished a beautiful red-brown over an amber ground on the belly and back.

It draws a rich and sonorous timbre across all ranges with a clarity and brilliance in the upper register, iconic to baroque violins. This violin would be a perfect fit for the professional Early music violinist.
