The Maker:
Charles Jacquot (b. 1804, Mirecourt; d.1880, Paris) first apprenticed in his hometown of Mirecourt in 1819, before relocating to Nancy in 1823 to establish his own luthier business in 1827.
Appearance:
Jacquot based his violins on the classic work of Stradivari, Guarneri, and Maggini The label reads “Charles Jacquot a Nancy, Rue de la Poissonnerie” with notations of the awards he received. The violin is branded internally on the back in all four corners with the name Jacquot-Nancy. It has a gorgeous caramel brown varnish and one piece back.
Sound & Feel:
Playing the violin is an incredible experience. The violin is powerful, richly colored, velvety, expressive, and deeply satisfying. This lovely violin allows the player to explore a vast array of technical possibilities, dynamics, and immediate response. The serious or professional player will discover a powerful violin for orchestral, solo, and chamber work.
