Joseph Voirin (b. 1837, d. 1895) was born in Mirecourt as was his older brother, F.N. Voirin. Joesph trained in Mirecourt with Jean Simon. He moved to Paris in c.1855 working for one of the large firms, then set up his own business on Rue Sainte-Marguerite. His bows are quite rare and highly sought after. He served as the head of the bow department at Chateau-Thierry near Paris in 1867 .
This Joseph Voirin bow is accompanied by a William Moennig & Son certificate of authenticity.
Professional and ardent violinists must come visit and audition this bow. The bow is confident for fanciful bowing techniques such as sautille, spiccato, and lush legato. It draws a rich refined sound.
