This Albert Nürnberger viola bow is part of a rich, storied heritage of German bow-making. Originating from the Nürnberger family workshop in Markneukirchen, Germany.
The Nürnbergers produced a wealth of stellar bows—first following a German viola bow model and later adopting a Tourte-inspired design under the leadership of Franz Albert Nürnberger (1854–1931). The family workshop was later passed to Carl Albert Nürnberger (1885–1971) in the 1920s. Together with his brother Phillipp Paul, Carl refined the Tourte model bow and created the new Nürnberger Viola Bow signature style–now sought after by musicians around the world.
This fine viola bow will easily melt into your hand and instinctively link with the viola strings. You will relish the natural, pure resonance as this professional viola bow is drawn across the strings—bringing a warm, focused tone with rich resonance. The sound can be likened to drinking a sumptuous espresso! Your viola will have a new voice—warm, luminous, yet muscular and focused. With wonderful, organic control and effortless articulation, this viola bow for professional players delivers confident performance and refined response. You and your viola deserve the best!
