Jens Paulus (b. 1970, fourth generation Markneukirchen bow making family) learned bow making from his father, Gunter Paulus, between 1986 and 1988. Upon completing his apprenticeship, Jens attended a newly founded technical school for instrument making in Markneukirchen and continued work with his father for another year. Jens earned the master’s certification in 1992 and completed his technical school training in 1993. Honoring his family tradition, Jens remained working in his father’s Markneukirchen shop. His bows reflect the Markneukirchen techniques while showing stylistic influences by the August Rau model and his own personal signature design. Jens Paulus bows are graced by the eagle stamp on the frog (the family stamp!) and stars indicating the level of quality.
