In 1991, Matt Wehling was inspired to begin his bow making work by observing a repairman remove the top off of his violin. Excellent! Matt dove into his bow making studies attending summer sessions with Bill Salchow. Knowing he wanted to build bows of premium quality, Matt went to France to study with master bow makers. He was seeking to refine his technique, focus his artistic goals, and to become a superior archetier providing string musicians with the finest bows for achieving the utmost in musical artistry. In 1995, Matt quit the day job and went to France to begin work with Benoit Rolland who had himself graduated from the Mirecourt bowmaking school under the auspices of Bernard Ouchard. After this experience, Matt worked in the Georges Tepho shop until 2001. Upon his return to America, Matt spent time in a Port Townsend, WA workshop and ultimately settled in Northfield, Minnesota.
Claire Givens is pleased to offer this Matt Wehling violin bow to you. You HAVE to come play this bow, it is FUN! All in one tidy package is a bow that is elegant, robust, agile, and lights up your violin with a plethora of tonal color. In addition, the bow is stable and embraces the strings with ease. Boost your playing and vitality with the Wehling bow.
