Matthew grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota and began playing cello at the age of 8. He participated in Minnesota Youth Symphonies for 8 years and graduated from St. Paul Central High School before attending Luther College where he majored in Cello and Nordic Studies. Matthew continued his education at The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University earning a master’s degree in Cello Performance in May of 2021. In his free time Matthew enjoys reading, cross-country skiing, and watching baseball and soccer.
