The Maker:
Elisa Scrollavezza is one of the leading Italian makers, daughter of the famous Renato Scrollavezza, who taught violinmaking in Cremona and won numerous awards in violinmaking competitions. Elisa studied with Renato Scrollavezza at the School of Lutherie of the Boito Music Academy in Parma and was his assistant until 1999. She won an award at Bagnacavallo for her work in 1996 and founded her firm of Scrollavezza and Zanre in 2002.
Appearance:
This instrument modeled after a Guadagnini violin is dedicated to the renowned 16th century painter Caravaggio as can be seen on the label. This violin has an amber-red over a golden ground oil varnish.
Sound & Feel:
It produces a beautiful structured and powerful sound. With a lot of sweetness and color in the upper register. This violin would be perfect for the advanced player.
