The Makers:
Qiusheng Zhao was born in Beijing in 1954 and began playing violin at an early age. As a young adult, Zhao became interested in craftsmanship while working in stage art and props design. Eventually he decided to pursue a career in violin making, and in 1988 opened his own workshop in Beijing. His violins are loved by lots of Chinese violinists as well as violinists internationally.
Appearance:
It is modeled after the the well-kowned “Il Cannone” by Guarneri del Gesu. Varnished in dark red-brown over golden ground with medium grained spruce top and highly flamed maple for scroll, ribs, and back.
Sound & Feel:
This instrument has a crisp, clear upper register as well as warmth and core in the lower register. With its bright, bold sound and good projection, this instrument is an excellent choice for an advancing player.
