Wolfgang Schiele, Munchen 2025 w/makers cert
Wolfgang Schiele, master violin maker, (b. 1959, Berlin, Germany) began his impressive career as a violin maker training at the violin making school in Mittenwald, Germany. After graduation, he worked for Philippe Bodart and Jerome Dariel in France (1982-84), traveled to New York (1985-87) to collaborate with Peter & Wendy Moes, and then passed his master craftman’s examination in May 1988 in Germany. Schiele continued his journey for knowledge by working on restoring antique instruments for Peter Biddulph in London (1988-1990); established his own Munich workshop in 1990; and has spearheaded exhibitions of Munich violin makers with concerts and lectures. Of special note, Schiele has developed the reconstruction of the violin shape using geometry and the golden section. Please visit his website to review his treatise on the golden section.
Schiele builds his violins using the traditional models of Amati, Stradivari, and Guarneri. The violin offered by Givens Violins is accompanied by a maker cert.
The Schiele violin is luscious and a sheer pleasure to play. You will be enraptured by the enriching and echoing resonance from the well-balanced timbre across all registers and dynamics. The tone is a feast of color. Yes, geometry and superb craftsmanship create a violin that is a dream, a work of art, and a means to express the deepest musical expression from your heart. Transcend!
