The Makers:
Daniel Arlig studied double bass performance at the New England Conservatory of Music before pursuing formal training in string instrument repair and violin making. In 2000, he graduated with honors in String Instrument Repair from Minnesota State College Southeast under the direction of Lisbeth Nelson-Butler. He later earned a degree in Violin Making and Restoration from the North Bennet Street School, completing the three-year program in two years while studying with Kevin Kelly, David Polstein, and Thomas Hummel. Daniel received an Honorable Mention in the 2012 Art of Sound Violin Making Competition.
Appearance:
This instrument has a warm orange-brown varnish with antiquing that shows off the golden ground, with a beautiful one-piece back with varied flame.
Sound & Feel:
It has a lovely, open sound with a ring and colorful undertones.
