J.G. Ficker, Neukirchen c. 1777 w/ Moennig cert
The Maker:
Johann Gottlob Ficker (b. 1744, d. 1832) was a renowned Markneukirchen Saxony violin maker, a member of the prominent Ficker family of luthiers. He was the son and pupil of Caspar Ficker and admitted to the violin makers guild of the day in 1764. In keeping with family tradition, J.G. Ficker violins were of superior quality and modeled after the Jakob Stainer violin with a pronounced arched top and the finest of tone woods.
Appearance:
The Ficker offered to you has an elegant outline and eye-popping light brown varnish. This historically significant violin is branded “J.G.F” on the inside and with an “H” at the button.
Sound & Feel:
The violin is joyfully energetic to play and will enchant you with endless tonal interest. The Ficker favors a sophisticated, rich tone with commanding projection to fill any expanse with lovely and transcending music. Hmmm, it would be fun to play the violin with a Baroque bow, too!
