Otto A. Hoyer (b. 1889, d. 1966) was born into the well-established Markneukirchen bow making family, Hoyer, with a pedigree linked back to Carl Wilhem Hoyer (1772-1836). Unfortunately, there are no stamped bows from this distinguished family until Otto himself began stamping his bows on a regular basis. Hoyer learned archetier from his father, Ernst August Hoyer. Family history tells us Otto worked in Paris between 1911 and 1913 for E. Sartory. You will notice the bow offered is stamped “OTTO A. HOYER PARISER.” Pariser, aka “the Parisian” reflects Otto’s pride and esteem for his tutelage with Sartory. Hoyer did set up his own shop in Markneukirchen and made amazing bows well into his old age. The exquisite Hoyer bow easily yield a lustrous pastel tone color palette creating an irresistible sound for legato passages. For those swift and speedy passages, the bow becomes alive as you dance across the strings at the ready to bring out the beauty of your music. If all of this is not enough, the Otto bow has a “cool” factor you must experience! The frog eye is actually a LENS!! By looking through the lens, you see a picture of Otto himself. SWEET!
