Steven Reiley (b. 1949) is a native son of Michigan. Indeed, he received his master’s degree in double bass from the University of Michigan while at the same time, began making bows in 1972. During the college years, Reiley worked in the shop of Mark Schwartz. Upon relocating to Grand Rapids, Michigan, he and Phillip Greenberg established the “Guarneri House” violin shop. Reiley pursued an active performing career, nevertheless became focused on bowmaking. His bows are modeled after the innovations of Tourte, Peccatte, Tubbs, and Dodd. Notably, Reiley received a certificate for bow making at the 1982 VSA competition.
This bow has an octagonal stick and is stamped “Steven Reiley.” The bow will please the player with its multifaceted and expressive voicings: elegant, bold, lively, and delicate as the music calls for. Furthermore, the bow will finely accentuates the different ranges of your violin’s sound spectrum. The various bowing techniques ricochet, bariolage, spiccato, and so much more will be easefully executed. This bow is made for violinists demanding excellence, reliability, and a sublime playing experience.
