The Maker:
Charles Louis Bazin (Louis Bazin, b. 1881, d. 1953) was the son, pupil, and successor of C. N. Bazin II. Louis Bazin was the exceptional child taking up bow making at the tender age of 12 apprenticing with his father, and later went on to train with several luthiers in Paris and developed an impressive reputation for his abilities throughout France. He took over the family workshop in 1907 and continued in that role until 1952. He is considered the foremost member of the Bazin family, having achieved the highest standard and renown in the craft. 20th century violin virtuosi revered his bows and indeed, William Henley is quoted: “No better bows made by any contemporary maker.”

The stick is nimble and acrobatic with clean articulation and attack.
