the fine art of restoring, conserving, and building historic musical instruments
Charles Louis Bazin (Louis Bazin, b. 1881, d. 1953) was the son, pupil, and successor of C. N. Bazin II. Louis Bazin was the exceptional child taking up bow making at the tender age of 12 apprenticing with his father. He took over the family workshop in 1907 and continued in that role until 1952. He is considered the foremost member of the Bazin family, having achieved the highest standard and renown in the craft. 20th century violin virtuosi revered his bows and indeed, William Henley is quoted: “No better bows made by any contemporary maker.” This is one bodacious bow in both sound and appearance! You will love the elegant octagonal stick and frog. The bow has exciting grit and clarity with an underlying mellow character. Go ahead and challenge yourself with that violin concerto while the bow supports you with resilience and assured control. The icing on the cake is a Pierre Guillaume cert.
