Pierre Cuniot (b. 1839, d. 1884) was the son of a Mirecourt cabinet maker. Taking a different direction in life, Pierre chose and served his apprenticeship in bowmaking with none other than Francois Bazin and then with other bowmakers until 1870. After experience in the archetier and marrying, Pierre set up his own Mirecourt shop in 1873. He was influenced by the Peccatte school, the Voirin-Vuillaume style as well as Bazin and a smattering of the Tourte and Lupot models.
