The Maker:
Célestin Émile Clasquin (1875–1929) was a respected French bow maker born in Mirecourt, the renowned center of French violin and bow making. The son of a violin maker, he trained under Charles Nicolas Bazin and later worked for the influential Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy firm. Following his military service during World War I, Clasquin established his own workshop in Paris in 1918. Although his production was relatively limited, his bows are highly regarded for their craftsmanship, elegant modeling, and refined playing qualities, often reflecting the influence of Émile Ouchard. Today, genuine Clasquin bows are sought after by musicians and collectors alike for their rarity and quality.
