Dealers, Makers & Restorers of Fine Violins, Violas, Cellos & Bows
the fine art of restoring, conserving, and building historic musical instruments
Roger Graham Hargrave (b. 1948, Leeds) began his career as a student and teacher of fine arts before his formal transition to instrument making in the 1970’s. Hargrave trained at the Newark International School of Violin Making subsequently joining the distinguished workshop of W.E. Hill & Sons (London) as a restorer of fine Italian instruments. In 1981, Hargrave relocated to Bremen, Germany to manage Geigenbau Machold’s workshop and created a world-class team of bowed string instruments restorers. Moving forward with his passion, Hargrave founded his own business in 1986 and further elevated his reputation for making detailed reproductions and modern instruments modeled after classical and traditional Italian instruments. He has won numerous awards for his exemplary work. Claire Givens is offering the 1991 Roger Hargrave violin modeled after the 1708 Stradivari, Cremona for you to play and cherish. Cherish indeed!
