The Makers:

This violin was crafted in Beijing and varnished at the shop of Jay Ifshin in El Cerrito, California. Jay Haide instruments are handcrafted violins, violas, cellos, and basses through the collaboration of Jay Ifshin and Haide Lin. Established in the early 1990s, the workshop was founded with the vision of offering musicians instruments that deliver the tonal richness and good craftsmanship at an accessible price. Today, Jay Haide instruments are renowned for their quality, consistency, and exceptional value, making them a popular choice among students, educators, and professional performers worldwide.

Appearance:

It was set up for Baroque playing in the workshop of master instrument restorer Andrew Dipper. The transformative process included resetting the neck angle, reconfiguring the fingerboard, and setting up the instrument entirely with uniquely-Baroque fittings. The exquisite bridge was completely hand-carved from scratch and fitted perfectly to the violin.
