The Maker:

The Herrmann family was a famous German dynasty of bow makers from Markneukirchen and Schönlind in the Vogtland region, active from around 1760 until 1987. Strongly tied to the Knopf family style after an 1861 marriage alliance, top makers like Albert, Edwin, and Lothar Herrmann crafted exceptional pernambuco bows that rivaled leading French makers.
